Тhe Armenian negotiating fund is being stripped of its content and depleted
June 11, 2025

However, today, Prime Minister's Spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan announced that Armenia is prepared to discuss the dissolution of the group without signing a peace treaty, and without any international guarantees or clear agreements.

The authorities are attempting to convince the public that the conflict no longer exists, thereby justifying the Minsk Group's irrelevance. Yet, this argument is an illusion and sharply contradicts reality.

  • If there is no conflict, why are Azerbaijani armed forces still present in Armenia's sovereign territory?
  • Why are Armenian prisoners of war and captured citizens of Armenia, as well as individuals elected by the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, held in Azerbaijani prisons?
  • Why is the people of Nagorno-Karabakh deprived of their right to return to their native homeland?

By abandoning this crucial diplomatic tool, which has served to protect our interests for years, we are weakening Armenia's position and providing Azerbaijan with new leverage to exert pressure.

As a result, the Armenian negotiating fund is being stripped of its content and depleted. Our last diplomatic bargaining chips are being unilaterally conceded to the adversary, again for nothing, and as a result of hastily changing a previously well-founded position. I strongly condemn this and hope that the citizens of Armenia and political forces will draw appropriate conclusions from all of this.
