Selective Justice

Today, the National Security Service is conducting a search of the residence of the Aragatsotn Diocese in connection with a case allegedly committed four years ago, while absolutely no action has been taken regarding the violence committed against Hakob Karapetyan and Edgar Ghazaryan.

This selective approach to the application of the law in itself deserves the strongest condemnation. Such practices undermine the authority of the legal system and contribute to the Republic of Armenia's retreat from the principles of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. This discredits all state institutions.

I strongly condemn the illegal actions that have been taking place since this morning, in particular the unlawful detention of people and the restriction of their right to effective legal representation by denying access to lawyers.
